Cake, Fondant and a BIG Mess!

What I looked like after our attempt on the third cake
Our first cake

The Final product! This was our second cake.

Alice practicing frosting

One of the very big messes

Our latest adventure involves our amazing friend Leah. We were assigned the task in English to find something we wanted to learn how to do and do it. Leah and I came to the decision that we really wanted to learn how to use the fancy fondant. Alice of course did it with us and we actually did learn a few things:

1. Fondant is quite hard to roll out and place exactly on the cake

2. Greasy fondant is not good.

3. Never give Leah the crappy cake to decorate

4. You can never have enough powdered sugar

Those are just a few of the discoveries we made.

Well we were doing good on our project and just to make this shorter I will skip ahead to our last cake. Alice and I had made three cakes the night before and put them in the freezer(apparently that's what you're suppose to do). The next night, we all went to Alice's after we had made our third fondant at Leah's. We each had our own batch and had decided to each decorate our own layer of the cake. Alice would have the bottom, leah the middle, and I got the top.

We set out each with our own ideas. Leah was not very happy though because her layer was kinda a mess and all crumbly, so she did not want to decorate hers. Alice was dertermined to make hers a masterpiece and was in the process of making pink frosting when I took I big dallop ate some and smeared the rest on her cheek. The rest was history. We all ended up with cake, fondant, and frosting all in our hair, all over our clothing and all over Alice's kitchen. It was fun while it lasted until Alice started panicking and the mess. Before either of her parents could come in we hurried and cleaned up the kitchen and you never would have know a war had taken place in there.

Cold Butt, Warm Heart

The sun was so bright and the grass so green, there was no resisting sitting on a block of ice and sliding down the steepest hill in all of Salt Lake County. I had never been Ice Blocking and that was something Joshlyn couldn't live with. So, after a King Kong ice cream cone, and some rocking out to Lemonheads, we arrived at the mother of all hills. So here are some samples of our icy experience.

THE JOSHLYN STORY by alice

I am sure you have met some intolerable people in your day. There is no doubt that every time you walk down the street you run into someone that you wish you never did. Or you find yourself complaining to the thin air in front of you about the obnoxious individual standing behind you at the cross walk. We all know these people and try to avoid them at all costs. Joshlyn is not one of these people.

Joshlyn is a girl with a mind; and a mind of her own. She passes tests with above average marks, yet does things that, although hilarious, can sometimes make you wonder where her mind really is. Her injury rate is about seventeen per day, and her mood swings are off the chart, yet very regular. From 8:00 am to 8:54 am she is the most jubilant creature in first period. Following first period from 9:00 am to 9:54 am is a storm of “You know what? I’m not even going to try talking to you right know!” and, “I’m not here as something to laugh at!” Luckily, a hug and a few flattering words can cure the atmosphere for the next needed minutes of peace.

Story Time and lunch hour are Joshlyn’s favorite times of the day. The first is enjoyed because of Joshlyn’s love of a good story; the second (though she won’t admit it) is a high point because of what I like to call the F.F.F.F. (The Flirt booth at the Flirt Fair in Town Flirtington on Planet Flirt Fest!) Of course the culprit in these flirt festivities shall remain nameless, but, if you ever want to stop by our table at lunch, I really don’t need to say more.

Story Time is only experienced when in the car with my mother, and usually a Jamba Juice near by. We then talk of past boy friends and embarrassing moments, and can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon!

Though a klutz and a boy crazy, Joshlyn is no less than the kindest person I’ve met. Her only rash comments are in jest, and the rest of her language consists of jokes, sympathy and compliments. Of course, there’s always the occasional complaint, but you can’t expect anything more from a girl who injures herself more often than she heals. Joshlyn, I may spend a great deal of my time laughing hysterically at you, but remember that it’s just another way of saying, “There’s nothing I hold more dearly than the way you lift my spirits and brighten my day,” or something like that. Joshlyn, I love you in the most un-creepy way possible. Don’t go changing!

Weekend Fun!

Hello my esteemed readers! Today I will be telling you about how my weekend went. This is Joshlyn speaking by the way because usually it's Alice. Anyways, so on Friday Alice and I went to our good friend Emma's house parce-que(because) Emma was having a party. Well before we could go we went to a BBQ get together thing at Alice's neighbors for a graduation party. I think. Yeah, so we're almost ready to go and all of the sudden I get this stingy pain sensation in my side. I thought I was having a heart attack in my side, it hurt so bad! Anyways so we went back to Alice's and I layed down and took some Aleve and then went to Emma's. At Emma's we sat around for a bit then we decided to play spoons. Well I wanted to play ultimate spoons but everyone was against me so we didn't. So, after we were done with spoons, and two bags of popcorn, we wanted to bob for apples. Yeah, well Emma bobs for apples a little bit differently then from what I'm use to, she puts a bag of ice in the bucket to make the water freezing cold! My face ended up like a popsicle and I couldn't feel it and then I got this huge brainfreeze! But, it was fun! Then we watched The Sting in her movie room and ate like 10 bags of popcorn, although I fell asleep like within the first 30 minutes. Then Alice's mom came and picked us up and I went home.

The next morning I had to get up at 6:30 in the morning because for Young Womens we were doing a yard sale to raise money for camp. I was dead tired and I looked like crap but oh well. Well this one lady came and bought a lot of big things so we said we would deliver it for her so we all jumped in the trailer thing and rode in it over to her house. After we dropped her stuff off we convinced Sarah's dad to drive us around so we could advertise the yard sale.So we drove around and got chased by two dogs! A lot of people donated to our cause and we made our goal of 800 dollars. Well then our Young Womens president said she would take us to get slurpee's if we helped clean up so she did and then we drove around like jolly adolescents with our slurpees in hand. It was great! Then I went and saw Iron Man with Alice and Haley, the movie was really good but there were these people who couldn't stop talking and were repeating every line they thought was funny. It was really annoying. After the movie I went home, but then I went to my friend Jayde's to help her with homework and just hang out. Oh yeah, and I forgot to say during the yard sale Katie, Jayde and I went to get Katie some medicine and as we were leaving I fell when I was walking out of Jayde's door and twisted my ankle because I'm a clutz.

Anyways that was my weelend, which I thought was pretty fun!

Video Killed the Radio Star!! LIVE

Once upon a time, in a place unlike any civilized life you'll ever know, there sat two very, very, very, bored girls. They sat at their computer doing absolutely nothing for who knows how long. After more wasted time than usual, they finally got their pathetic, grey things they call brains working again, and came up with this crazy idea to lean all the lyrics to the Lemonheads' version of Video Killed the Radio Star. Twenty minutes, and a lot of laughs later, this video was born.
